What is a Community Supported Agriculture Share?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a unique collaboration connecting people who want fresh, local food with local farmers and producers. Each member purchases a season’s share of produce in advance. The farmers commit to providing a variety of vegetables and value-added products such as jams, pickles, baked goods, etc. for weekly delivery. The bounty will vary from week to week and month to month depending on the season.

What are the risks?

Each growing season has its unique challenges. Sometimes a crop may fail because of weather or other conditions beyond the farmer’s control. The Cooperative embraces multiple farms, growing similar products to help ensure an adequate harvest for the CSA. The CSA’s goal is to provide members with abundance throughout the season.

What will Happen?

Members will subscribe to receive a weekly delivery for fifteen weeks. The shares will contain on average seven to twelve items portioned for two people. There are two options:

A vegetable share will cost $450.00. This share will have vegetables, fresh eggs, baked goods and products from local producers of items such as maple syrup, honey, pastries and preserves.

A bouquet share for the season will include the Vegetable Share plus a bouquet of flowers for an additional cost of $10.00 per week and a total cost for the season of $600.00.
